Did you know that in Leeds in 2017-18 we spent 3.2 million on prescribing over the counter medicines. This is for medicines that can be purchased over the counter from a pharmacy and supermarkets. After national consultation, NHS England have implemented national guidance and are asking GPs, Nurses, pharmacists not to routinely prescribe over the counter medicines for a range of minor health concerns. For the majority of patients nothing will change and the GP decision will be on a case by case basis.
Please help the NHS to use its resources sensibly.
Rather than going to the GP why not visit your pharmacy first who can offer help and advice to manage minor health concerns. The receptionist may direct you to your local pharmacist for ,
