GP appointments:
All GP appointment requests are reviewed and prioritised by a doctor before an appointment is booked. This triage system helps ensure that patients receive the most appropriate care, from the right healthcare professional, within the most suitable timeframe.
Rather than contacting the practice to book directly with a GP, patients are asked to submit an AccuRx Triage Request online. This allows our clinical team to assess your needs and determine the best way to help you.
To submit a request, click on the green "Request a GP Appointment" banner on our website. If you are viewing the website on a mobile device, the banner may appear further down the page.
We understand that not everyone is able to access or use online services. If you are unable to submit an online request yourself, our reception team will be happy to assist by completing an AccuRx Triage Request on your behalf, either over the telephone or when you attend the practice.
This approach ensures that all patients are treated fairly and consistently. Whether you submit your request online, contact reception by telephone, or visit the surgery in person, your request will be assessed through the same clinical triage process and directed to the most appropriate service.
Where a GP appointment is required, consultations may be offered either face-to-face or by telephone. When arranging your appointment, you can discuss your preferred consultation method with our reception team.
Please note that telephone appointment times are approximate. GPs and Nurses may contact you at any point during the morning or afternoon session in which your appointment is scheduled, so we recommend keeping your phone available during this time.
Can the rest of the appointments be as a drop down that it collapses?
Nurse and Healthcare Assistant (HCA) appointments
Nurse and Healthcare Assistant appointments are available by appointment only and are offered on weekdays between 8:00am and 6:00pm. Please note that the practice is closed on weekends.
To book an appointment, please contact the surgery on 01937 222841 or visit the practice to speak with a member of our reception team.
Our reception staff will always do their best to find an appointment that is convenient for you. However, there may be occasions when appointments with a particular Nurse or Healthcare Assistant are fully booked or unavailable at your preferred time.
To help patients plan ahead, many appointments can be booked up to four weeks in advance.
We are continually reviewing and improving our appointment systems to help provide better access to healthcare services and ensure patients are able to receive the care they need as efficiently as possible.
Extended Access:
To provide greater flexibility and improve access to healthcare services, Extended Access appointments are available outside of our standard opening hours.
These clinics include appointments with GPs, Nurses, and Healthcare Assistants, and are currently held at Wetherby Health Centre on Saturday mornings.
Please note that Extended Access appointments are not a walk-in service and must be booked in advance.
The Extended Access service also provides appointments with a range of other healthcare professionals, including:
- Clinical Pharmacists
- First Contact Physiotherapists
- Mental Health Practitioners and Support Services
These appointments offer patients access to specialist advice and treatment without necessarily needing to see a GP first.
Extended Access appointments are intended for routine, pre-bookable care and may be offered following clinical triage of your request. In many cases, a GP may recommend an appointment with the most appropriate healthcare professional based on your individual needs.
If you would like to find out more about the Extended Access service or discuss appointment availability, please speak to a member of our reception team, who will be happy to help.
Home Visits:
Home visits are available for patients who are genuinely unable to attend the surgery due to serious illness, frailty, or because they are housebound.
If you believe you require a home visit, please contact the surgery on 01937 222841 as early as possible. Wherever possible, requests should be made before 10:30am to allow our clinical team to plan and prioritise visits effectively.
When you contact the practice, our reception team may ask for brief details about the reason for your request. This information helps the doctor assess the urgency of the situation and ensure that patients with the greatest clinical need are seen as promptly as possible.
Please be aware that a clinician may contact you by telephone before arranging a home visit. In some cases, your needs may be better met through a telephone consultation, a surgery appointment, or by another member of the healthcare team.
Cancellations:
If you are unable to attend your appointment, please let us know as soon as possible. This allows us to offer the appointment to another patient who may be waiting to be seen.
By cancelling unwanted appointments in good time, you can help us make the best use of available healthcare resources and improve access to services for everyone.
Appointments can be cancelled by contacting the surgery during opening hours or, where available, through our online services or NHS app.
Automated Patient check-in:
To help improve patient experience and reduce waiting times at Reception, we offer a convenient self check-in system for patients attending pre-booked appointments.
The self check-in screen is located in the Reception area and allows you to register your arrival quickly and easily without needing to queue.
Once you have checked in, your GP, Nurse, or Healthcare Professional will be notified that you have arrived and are waiting for your appointment.
If you experience any difficulties using the self check-in system, or if you would prefer to speak with a member of staff, our Reception team will be happy to assist you.
